ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS :

Classes are mainly led by artist Mira Song and guest artists. Mira is an interdisciplinary artist based in Vancouver, BC, born in Seoul, South Korea. Song holds a Master of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art + Design and a Certificate in Garden Design from UBC, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Korea National University of Arts in Seoul.

With over 15 years of experience as both a professional artist and part-time art instructor, she has had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of students – from children to adults from diverse backgrounds – both in institutions and through private tutoring. By employing various teaching skills, ranging from basic drawing and painting techniques to cross-disciplinary approaches involving reading, research, discussion, and gallery tours, she not only focuses on planning lessons and instructing techniques but also strives to foster interpersonal relationships through artistic self-expression. She treats students individually with compassion and aims to help them realize their potential through art and conceptual, critical, and analytical thinking. From her teaching experiences, she was motivated and inspired by my student’s enthusiasm for art, which fueled her passion for teaching and art as well.

She has exhibited her work throughout Canada and internationally, including in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Hong Kong, and Seoul, at various commercial, artist-run, and public galleries. Her artwork can be found in private collections in Canada, as well as in corporate art collections such as Google, Aritzia Inc., Telus, Deloitte, and Microsoft Art Collection.
